AND PRINT COLLATERAL

For the past couple of years, I’ve been in working with the Australian Wooden Boat Festival as their web designer, creating digital and print collateral, festival signage, and setting up an online merchandise store.

“I have worked with Merel for the past 2 years and have found her to be creative, responsive, and flexible. She has a diverse skill set and has delivered fantastic design work for the Australian Wooden Boat Festival across our website, signage, advertisement, and many other digital and printed assets. I highly recommend her services.”

One very exciting project I took on for the festival was to design their 2023 program which was released inside the Mercury on November 12. A 48-page document detailing the events and activities to take place on Hobart’s waterfront this summer.

Here is a small selection of the pages found inside.

The beloved boat boards have been a keen part of the festival. Each boat gets her own information board, which needs to be small enough to be practical on many-sized vessels and easy to read from a distance.

We chose an off-white to cream background with bright and dark letters in a large block font. It made the boards easy to read and blend in with the boats while still grabbing your attention.

The Australian Wooden Boat Festival takes place in the heart of Hobart; at the urban waterfront and part of the CBD. It’s a busy and lively festival and free to all visitors. Because of this, bright-colored teardrop flags were chosen as the site indicators. Economical, easy to quickly assemble by volunteers, and highly visible among the crowd.
